The Joseph Process: A Promise Fulfilled
Genesis 42:3: So Joseph's 10 older brothers went down to Egypt to buy grain. Genesis 42:6-7: Since Joseph was governor of all Egypt, and in charge of the sale of the grain, it was to him that his brothers came and bowed low before him with their faces to the earth. Joseph recognized them instantly, but pretended he didn't. Genesis 42:9: Then Joseph remembered the dreams of long ago.
Here we see a promise fulfilled. It has been many years since Joseph was that young, arrogant boy who received the promise that one day he would hold a place of preeminence and authority, through the dreams that the Lord had given him. Remember the dreams? In the first, Joseph's sheaf stood up while his brothers' sheaves all gathered around his and bowed low before it. The second had the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing before him. So now, in this scripture, we see the fulfillment of those promises. Here is Joseph, now second in command of all of Egypt, with the world's food supply at his disposal. His brothers have now come to him, bowing low before him, asking him for food.
GOD DOES EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS HE IS GOING TO DO. No matter HOW LONG IT TAKES, HE WILL FULFILL HIS PROMISES TO US. He is NOT a man that He should lie, or the son of man that He should repent. If He said it, IT WILL BE DONE. If what He said does not currently exist, HE WILL CREATE IT. That is the POWER of the GOD WE SERVE. I am reminded of a statement that I heard recently that "God will be in debt to no man. He will do WHATEVER is necessary to make sure that what He has promised in our lives WILL COME TO PASS."
What we must remember is that at times, our promises may not be fulfilled IN THE WAY that we want them to be, or WHEN we want them to be. A lot of times, we have to go through MANY TRIALS or SEASONS and CIRCUMSTANCES in our lives to PREPARE US OR OTHERS for the realization of our promises. But, what is so GREAT is that God will NEVER WASTE ANY SITUATION THAT WE HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH in our lives. ALL WILL work out for our GOOD in the end.
This brief section simply reminds us that God's promises are YES AND AMEN, and WILL SURELY COME TO PASS. We may have to experience many things between the time that the promise is given and its fulfillment, but IF WE CAN JUST HOLD ON AND MAKE IT THROUGH, AT THE RIGHT TIME, like Joseph, WE TOO WILL SEE THE FULFILLMENT OF OUR DREAMS.
HOLD ON TO YOUR PROMISE. God is FAITHFUL and HE WILL DO IT!
1 Thessalonians 5:24: FAITHFUL is He who calls you, AND HE ALSO WILL BRING IT TO PASS.
Be Blessed!
