Look Up

So many things go on all around us everyday. So much cruelty, violence, hatred. So many things that we may have at one time never thought we'd ever see in our lifetime, but we are. In a world that is seemingly so out of control and so crazy, what is a person to do? How can we keep from going crazy with it? How do we keep our FOCUS, JOY, and SANITY in the midst of a dark and perverse world?
Well, my friends, we must LOOK UP! As a skater who twirls around must keep his/her eye FOCUSSED on ONE point of reference to not become unbalanced and fall, so WE must FOCUS OUR EYES on ONE point of reference as well; the ONLY SURE and STABLE point, being CHRIST. If we allow our attention to wander, or allow ourselves to LOOK AROUND at our circumstances, or at other people, we can cause ourselves to be thrown into a tailspin, becoming overwhelmed with all that we see. There is SO MUCH in the world today, both good and bad. What one calls right, others call wrong. What you believe is one way, others say is another. Who has the answer to all of this? Where can we go to find help in the midst of chaos? Psalm 121 says we simply must LIFT UP OUR EYES to the hill from whence cometh our help--OUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD. The Lord will NOT let our feet slip. He WATCHES OVER US. He will KEEP US from ALL harm--He will WATCH OVER our lives. He will WATCH OVER our coming and going, both NOW and FOREVER MORE! AMEN!
So, DON'T look DOWN, in fear, guilt, or shame. DON'T look AROUND, in confusion, anxiety, or competition. LOOK UP! LOOK UP and receive HELP. LOOK UP and receive JOY. LOOK UP and receive STABILITY. Most of all, LOOK UP and receive CHRIST, who will KEEP US in PERFECT PEACE, as we KEEP OUR MINDS ON HIM.
