From Test to Testimony
by Jennifer Pulliam

Every day of our lives we are tested. Life presents challenges that test our faith, patience, strength or self-esteem. The past two weeks at the workplace have been extremely trying for me. Just the other day, I was tested to hold my tongue when I wanted to speak a word (or a few choice words) that were not of God; I was tested to find even more patience when mine was about to run out; and when I needed strength to carry on, I was tested to rely upon God’s perfect strength instead of my own. I must be real with you and admit it was really, REALLY hard. The most difficult test of all, however, was the test “to be still and know” instead of “to pack my things up and go.” Looking back, I'm glad I allowed the Spirit to lead me instead of being led by my own inclinations. Yet I'll bet if you are honest, many of you also face similar tests each and every day.

I’m reminded of the familiar story of Job in the Bible – remember Job’s trials (tests) at the hand of Satan losing everything he owned. All the while Job still declared that all of his appointed time he would wait until his change comes - Job said though he (God) slay me, yet will I trust him. And when you are certain that your change will come, that your circumstances won’t always be as they are, that trouble really won't last always - no matter what the test, you can endure - persevere to the end because you trust God to bring you through. GLORY HALLELUJAH!

Things at work have since calmed down a bit. Yet (believe it or not) even in the midst of my test when all hell was breaking loose, there was always a peace in my spirit. I was then and still am today encouraged because I know that every time I pass a test, that test then becomes my testimony to others – not for what I have done, but for God’s working out in me what I couldn't have possibly done on my own. God will use our circumstances – good, bad or indifferent, as instructive lessons. God produces an inward change by allowing outward trials and tests to build in us an overcoming faith in HIM! It is in our tests that we discover the kind of faith that we really possess. Our tests not only reveal our faith but they also develop our character.

If you are going through a test right now, as difficult as it may be - you must "count it all joy" in other words, REJOICE! Because without the test, there can be no testimony. Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. [James 1:12] The test is in the journey, the trial is in the waiting and the testimony is the result of God’s magnificent grace and power! Until next time, always be encouraged!

Blessings and Peace!
