Embrace "CHANGE" for Better Health By Thomas Hundley
The 2009 Presidential Inauguration is over, and "Change" has come to America. During the 2008 presidential campaigns, President Obama and Senator McCain stressed the importance and necessity of our nation to embrace a period of change for present and future success. God said in His Word, "Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God." (Romans 12:2) This message is also relevant and appropriate as it relates to our health and fitness. Let me show you how to embrace change for better health.
1. Change What We Do! If you have been sedentary for a while, then your first goal is to begin walking. You need to walk at least 30 minutes per day, 3-4 days per week. If you are able to jog a little, then go for a 30 minute jog. The main objective is consistent movement. It's time to get out of our seat and move our feet.
2. Change What We Drink!! To improve our health, we must first rid our bodies of those bad toxins and unhealthy foods. That means we must flush with the purest beverage on the planet. Water! The goal is to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day. EVERYDAY! I want you to replace everything you normally drink with a bottle of water. If it's not high quality H2O, then I think you better let it go.
3. Change What We Eat! A change in our diet is critical to our future success. This does not call for a radical adjustment, but rather a subtle alteration in what and how we eat. Everyday, we should eat at least two foods that are high in fiber. That includes oatmeal, bran flakes, cheerios, broccoli, beans, spinach, fruits, and vegetables. Then, eliminate fried foods and junk food from at least one meal per day. A subtle cut back will go a long way.
Our ability and willingness to embrace change will not only help us to live longer, more productive lives, but it will also help our community to become a stronger, more productive place. My name is Thomas Hundley, and God approves this message!
