Doors Closing By Amy Timmons
We get excited about doors opening, but somewhat reluctant when God closes doors. Why is that? Is it the uncertainty of what is next, or is it the thought of letting people and things go?
I think it is more the uncertainty than anything. I don't know about you, but I have trouble with the unknown. I want to know what is next. Is anyone on my street? The problem is, I have found in my walk with Christ that I never know what is next. God told Abram, "leave your family and go to a land that I will show you." There was so much uncertainty in that statement. Abram didn't know where he was going, or even what would happen when he got there. Oh, to have the faith of Abram.
We have to embrace and get excited about the uncertainty of doors closing just as we get excited in the opening of doors. If we think about it, the same uncertainty that comes with closed doors also exists with open doors. If God has orchastrated the closing of doors, then, by all means, He has another one getting ready to open.
God may be asking some of us to walk away from relationships, churches, and jobs. Will we accept the challenge? Will we TRUST God enough to believe the PROMISES that He has made? The promise is "He will show us where to go and He will be with us." Get excited about the closing of doors! That means that He has new opportunities, new experiences, and new blessings waiting for you. GO FORTH!!!
